Rebecca Millican - Board Treasurer
Becca serves as North Sky Raptor Sanctuary’s legal and conservation advisor, and acts as a key member of our avian training team. A partner at the noted Traverse City environmental law firm Olson & Howard, PC, she possesses deep experience in environmental and nonprofit advocacy, and brings a passion for protecting Michigan’s natural resources. Becca has always been fascinated by apex predators, from wolves to orcas to birds of prey. Encounters with raptors at Shedd Aquarium and other zoo facilities as a child had a lasting impact on Becca, and she can’t wait to bring similar thrills to guests at North Sky’s future public center.
Emily Lemieux - Board Secretary
Emily owns a farm in North Branch, Mi and serves as the graphic designer, artist, merchandiser, and professional hype woman for North Sky Raptor Sanctuary.
“Birds of Prey have always had a special place in my heart, especially vultures. I love their keen ability to eat anything, making them nature's little clean-up crews. Through NSRS, we are able to connect with the community to teach them exactly why these birds, along with others, are vital for the balance of our ecosystem.”
Angela Ballmer - Board Member, Education Advisor
Angie is a Michigan State University graduate and longtime T.C.A.P.S. educator, with experience at the Montana Outdoor Science School and over two decades in lower elementary instruction. A Traverse City mom of two who adores her Siamese cat, Sam, she advises North Sky Raptor Sanctuary to ensure programming is accessible for teachers and students alike, and aligned with Michigan Science Standards. She enjoys reading, going to concerts, yoga, and being in nature.
Burnadette Rice - Subpermittee
Burnadette keeps busy as the office manager of her family’s dental practice in Traverse City, but she still makes time to give her heart (and hands) to the raptors. She and her husband have one son, plus a lively crew of dogs, chickens, and bees. When not assisting with rehabilitation efforts or ambassador training, you’ll find her camping, hiking, or curled up with a good book or movie.
